The 2017 NAB Show in Las Vegas presents many opportunities for attendees, including the chance to learn about the latest innovation and technology in media and entertainment, networking with peers in the industry, and now – thanks to the 4K 4Charity Fun Run – empowering communities around the world.
Mercy Corps is honored to be one of the nonprofit recipients of the 4K 4Charity Fun Run at the 2017 NAB Show. Powered by the belief that a better world is possible, Mercy Corps is a global organization that partners to put bold solutions into action—helping people triumph over adversity and build stronger communities from within. More than half the people we reach today — about 16 million people — are youth under the age of 25. The youth we work with live almost exclusively in countries that are in transition: places recovering from or still coping with natural disasters, economic crises and violent conflict. We place a special emphasis on reaching these young people because they are among the most vulnerable and often the most overlooked groups. But perhaps more importantly, Mercy Corps invests in youth because they represent a powerful source of hope and determination with the ability to drive lasting, positive change in their communities and countries.
Your participation in the 4K 4Charity Fun Run can make a difference in the lives of our future generations. For example, a $15 donation can provide fifteen refugee children in Turkey with one hour of literacy instruction in Arabic or Turkish, allowing them to continue their education despite a disrupted life. A $20 donation can fund a membership to a trade association for one Haitian youth to assist with job skills training and job placement. By increasing your registration to Donation Level 3, or $50, you can provide three-months of technical vocational training for one young Afghan to enable her earn a sustainable livelihood, and a donation of $100 invests in the success of a young entrepreneur in rural Guatemala by providing business skills training.
We know that young people around the globe are hungry for opportunities and eager to lead as change makers in their communities. Your participation at this year’s 4K 4Charity Fun Run will help connect youth and their families to education, training, community engagement projects and economic opportunity. As you make your way around the course in sunny Las Vegas this year, I hope you will remember that your participation and support makes a real difference in the world. Together, we can ensure that youth experiencing crisis and conflict not only survive, but thrive.
