"The roots of gender and race underrepresentation in technology go deep into our education system and society. The focus on diversity and inclusion must start in early childhood—including reaching underrepresented young people." — Sam Blackman, co-founder, 4K 4Charity Fun Run
The 4K 4Charity Fun Run Series supports efforts to increase diversity and inclusion in education and the technology industry. This year, we are proud to have Girls Who Code and FIRST Nevada as the beneficiaries of 4K 4Charity at the 2018 NAB Show. These organizations work to increase the representation of minorities in the tech industry by investing in the next generation of leaders.
Girls Who Code works to close the gender gap in technology by inspiring, educating and equipping young women with computing skills to pursue opportunities in tech. Funding from the run will support the Summer Immersion Program Stipend Fund, which helps to cover transportation and living expenses for students with financial need.
FIRST Nevada provides STEAM education programs to K-12 students in Nevada with an emphasis on reaching diverse student populations and at-risk youth. Funding from the run will help to cover expenses for at-risk teams across all four of their K-12 programs.
The 4K 4Charity Fun Run allows you to maximize your impact by donating 100% of your registration fee. Don't miss out on this opportunity to give back to while attending the NAB Show!
